UDAYAPUR, May 16: Sunsari XI has advanced into the semifinals of the ongoing fifth Rumpum Udayapur Gold Cup Football Tournament after it stunned the departmental team Nepal Police Club with a 3-2 tiebreaker win in the last quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
The game was pushed into the extra time after both the teams played a 3-3 draw at the end of the regulation time. Additional 15 minutes were added in the extra time, but the match went to penalties after the teams failed to score a winner. Anil Dhimal, Buddhiman Rai and Nishan Limbu scored for Sunsari, while Abhishek Rimal and Rejin Subba were the only Police scorers in the tiebreaker.
