Sunita wins three gold medals

KATHMANDU, March 1: Sunita Nepali of Ganga Higher Secondary School bagged three gold medals on Wednesday in physical disability event of the 22nd Inter School Special Sports Meet. 

In the event held at the Dasharath Stadium, Sunita won one gold each in girls' 100 m and 200 m races without using crutches. She also secured top finish in girls' shot put.  

Similarly, Suraj Karki of Khagendra Navajivan Kendra snatched two gold medals in the boys' 100 m and 200 m race without using crutches under the physical disability event. Sunil Sunar of Prabhat Secondary School became champion in boys' 100 m race with one crutch while Yubak Lama of Khagendra Navajivan won gold in boys' 100 m race using two crutches. 

Puja Karki of Khagendra Nawajivan bagged gold in girls'100 m race using one crutch and Manju Tharu of National Federation of the Disabled secured top finish in girls' 100 m race with two crutches. 

In the boys' and girls' 100 m race for the deaf, Devendra Saru and Pushpa Khatri became champions respectively while Dhiraj Shahi and Pushpa Khatri bagged gold medals in boys' and girls' 200 m races.

Likewise, Daya Narayan Chaudhary and Anita Budha Magar secured top finish in boys' and girls' 400 m races for the deaf respectively . Devendra Saru and Sancha Maya Tamang became champions in the boys' and girls' shot put for the deaf while Dhiraj Shahi and Chaman Khatun bagged gold medals in boys' and girls' long jump in the same category. 

In the boys' shot put for the blind, Laboratory School's Ananda Pandey secured top finish while Daupada Sahakarya of Mangal Prasad Higher Secondary School won gold in girls' section. Laxman Budhathoki of Gyanodaya Higher Secondary School became champion in the boy's shot put under partial blind category while gold medal of the girls' section went to Sapana Chaudhary of Mangal Prasad.

All the top finishers were rewarded with Rs 1500 each. The two day event organized by National Sports Council (NSC) featured 288 differently abled players.
