KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The meeting of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly has been postponed. An all-party meeting held this morning agreed to postpone the provincial assembly meeting until Tuesday as on Monday the nation is mourning the deaths in the aircraft accident in Pokhara on Sunday.

The Speaker of the Assembly has not been elected even though elections were held for the same twice in the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly. Although voting was held on January 12 and January 14 to elect the Speaker, the ruling coalition party, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, remained neutral, but the speaker could not be elected as neither of the candidates could achieve 51 percent of votes to be elected as the Speaker.

The members of the provincial assembly of Sudurpaschim took oath on December 30. The first meeting was held on January 2. There is a constitutional provision that the speaker should be selected within 15 days of the first meeting.
