KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Sudur Paschim Province is to receive 16,000 doses of the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines dispatched by the central government for use against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in all its nine districts.

The Indian government provided a grant of one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal which is currently being distributed in all seven provinces.

In the first phase, frontline health workers, security personnel and other employees will be inoculated across the country.

According to COVID-19 focal person of Sudur Paschim Health Directorate, Hem Raj Joshi, the COVID-19 vaccines received by the province will be distributed to all focused groups through the Provincial Hospital and district hospitals.

So far, Sudur Paschim Health Directorate has received details of as many as 14,666 health workers and 12,070 security personnel currently serving in the frontline against the pandemic in various districts of the province.
