MAHOTTARI, Sept 12: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Sub Inspector Rambabu Prasad Yadav, in-charge of Area Police Office, Ramgopalpur on Wednesday.
A team led by Section Officer Prakash Thapa deployed from CIAA, Bardiya Chapter arrested Yadav red-handed while receiving Rs 5,000 in bribe from apprehend Yadav today.
According to the anti-graft team, Yadav was receiving the bribe as a kick-back for assuring that he would allow help smugglers to evade custom to bring goods into Nepal.
It is learnt that on-duty police had been taking monthly remuneration for helping taxation on goods.
Police said they are investigating the case after taking Yadav under control.
