Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Rawat said it has been found that the steamer service was being operated without fulfilling any of the process for passengers´ safety and insurance.[break]
CDO Rawat said the operators of the steamer service have been directed to run the service after duly registering it with the administration.
The steamer service is being run in the name of the Shila Shaligram Kaligandaki Water Transport Entrepreneurs Committee. The service is now closed after increase in the flow of water in the Kaligandaki River.
The service used to be operated on the seven-kilometre distance from Andhimuhan at Mirmi up to Setibeni Shila, the trijunction of Syangja, Parbat and Gulmi districts.
Some 10 steamers, big and small, were operated. People of nearly 48 VDCs in Syangja, Gulmi, Parbat and Baglung have been affected after the closure of the steamer service.
