JHAPA, May 22: Statues of noted leaders the late Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala and the late Pushpalal Shrestha have been unveiled at Kakarvitta of Mechinagar Municipality-6 in Jhapa.
The statues were built on the initiative of the BP-Pushpalal Park and Martyr Memorial Academy, Jhapa and they were unveiled simultaneously on Sunday evening.
According to Academy Chair Ram Bahadur Tamang, this is the first time that the statues of the country's first elected Prime Minister and Nepali Congress veteran leader Koirala and CPN-UML founding general secretary Shrestha have been built together.

Unveiling the structures, Mechinagar Mayor Gopal Budhathoki said the placement of statues of two political icons from different political lines itself kept a significant meaning.
The BP-Pushpalal Park that was established in 2048 BS in commemoration of two political figures is spread in 12 kathas land (one Kattha is equivalent to 3645 sq ft).
