KATHMANDU, August 20: A Standing Committee meeting of CPN (Maoist Center) is being held today. The meeting is scheduled to finalize the office-bearers of the party

The meeting is being held at 1PM at the party central office Paris Danda. The office-bearers who were supposed to be finalized by Thursday could not be selected even in Friday's meeting. Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is under pressure as there are many aspirants for the powerful position of General Secretary.

Dev Gurung is a strong possibility for the post of General Secretary, but Janardan Sharma and Barshaman Pun are also strong contenders.

The Maoists have not been able to finalize the names of office bearers although it has been a long time since the completion of their General Convention. Apart from Chairman Dahal, Senior Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha and Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the party has failed to pick any other office bearers till date.
