As Friday's meeting failed to decide on the names of office bearers, the meeting was called again for Saturday. Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is under pressure as there are many aspirants for the powerful position of General Secretary.

While Dev Gurung is seen as the strongest contender for the post, the party’s two other influential leaders – Janardan Sharma and Barshaman Pun – are also vying for the post.

The Maoist Center has not been able to finalize the names of office bearers although it has been a long time since the completion of their General Convention. Apart from Chairman Dahal, Senior Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha and Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the party has failed to pick any other office bearers till date.
