KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Srijana Sharma, provincial assembly (PA) member from CPN-UML has been elected as the first woman deputy-speaker of Province-4. Sharma has been elected with 38 votes.
Mayanath Adhikari, from CPN-UML proposed her for the post of the province and Gayatri Gurung from CPN (Maoist Center) seconded the proposal. Man Kumari Gurung from Nepali Congress and Pyari Thapa from Rastriya Janamorcha also filed their nominations to claim the post.
56 PA members were presented at the meeting held on Sunday. Sharma garnered 38 totals votes from UML and Maoist Center and other 18 members from Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janamorcha cast their votes against her.
Speaker Netranath Adhikari administered the oath to newly-elected deputy speaker Sharma on Sunday.
