SPORTS BRIEFS: Nat'l gymnastic from Friday

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: NIC Foundation First National Open Gymnastic Tournament will be held in the capital on Friday and Saturday. Altogether 130 players will compete from 16 districts across the nation, stated Nabin Uprety, the secretary of the organizers, Nepal Gymnastic Association.



NIC foundation is the main sponsor of the tournament while Bank of Asia and Siddhartha Bank are the co-sponsors. [break]The expected cost of the tournament is Rs 447,150.



Khatri wins bronze



Subash Khatri of Nepal won bronze in the English Open Taekwondo Championship held at the United Kingdom. According to the Nepal ITF President Krishna Bahaudr Balal Kharti won silver in men´s 62 kg spirring. In 57 kg spirring Rewat Bahadur Rana won bronze. Altogether 396 players from 10 countries participated in the event.



Bernhardt, Pentagon triumph



Bernhardt, Pentagon, Whitehouse and Alliance won their respective matches under boys´ section on Monday in the Second Jaycees Cup Basketball Tournament held at Patan Multiple Campus. Bernhardt defeated Kathmandu Academy 40-31 sailing on 15 points of John Syanda.



Pentagon thrashed Trinity 65-23, Whitehouse hammered Premier 71-34 and Alliance dispatched Caribbean 69-30. In girls´ section Prime hammered Caribbean 42-6.
