Meanwhile, NTHMC edged past Pokhara College of Management 3-1 in the other semifinal match. Ishwar Thapa Magar, Krishna Bahadur Rana and Dilip Shrestha scored a goal each for NTHMC.
Prabesh Pun scored a consolation goal for Pokhara College of Management. The final match will be played on March 17. The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 35,000 while the runner-up will get Rs 20,000.
Nepali wins chess title
KATHMANDU: Former Nepal champion Badri Lal Nepali clinched the title of First Pokhara Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament in Pokhara on Tuesday. Nepali remained undefeated in the tournament with eight wins and a draw to clinch the title of the tournament organized by Sarbeshwar Youth Club, Pokhara. Nepali defeated Madan Krishna Kayastha in the ninth and final round of the tournament. Nepali received Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
Shyam Sundar Shrestha finished the tournament in the second place with 7.5 points. He received Rs 10,000. Niraj Niraula defeated Rajan Puri in the final round to secure third position with 7 points. Niraula bagged Rs 7,000. Meanwhile, Buddhi Raj Sharma emerged the winner among local players with a total of six points.
Bijeshwari lifts team title
KATHMANDU: Bijeshwari School became the team champion in the Second Kathmandu District-level Taekwondo Championship on Tuesday as it clinched six gold medals in the tournament. Sitapaila Taekwondo Dojang, which claimed five gold medals, finished second in the tournament organized by Boys Union Taekwondo Dojang. The host Boys Union clinched four gold, three silver and three bronze medals to finish third. Sur Bogati of Dhalku Taekwondo Dojang was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Altogether 304 players of 19 teams had participated in the championship.
