Spectre of Supreme Cooperative fraud case threatens Lamichhane’s respite

The DGAO is preparing to file a case at the Rupandehi District Court on Thursday, seeking a claim of Rs 1.12 billion against 42 individuals, including former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi and former RSP Chairman Lamichhane.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: A case is set to be registered in Rupandehi against Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in the Butwal Supreme Cooperative fraud case.


The District Government Attorney's Office (DGAO), Butwal is going to register a case against Lamichhane and 14 more people in the District Court Rupandehi. Earlier, a case was registered against 28 people.

The DGAO is preparing to file a case at the Rupandehi District Court on Thursday, seeking a claim of Rs 1.12 billion against 42 individuals, including former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi and former RSP Chairman Lamichhane.


If the case is not registered on Thursday due to some technical reason, the case will be registered on Friday, as stated by the DGAO.


The police report suggests that based on the initial report of 28 individuals and supplementary complaints, 42 people should be prosecuted in the report by adding 14 people including Lamichhane and Joshi.
