KATHMANDU, Dec 30: The government has tabled Nepal Special Service Bill 2019 at the National Assembly for discussion.

On behalf of the government, Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada presented the bill on Monday in the Upper House. Highlighting the importance of the bill, the minister opined that the bill aims to make social life disciplined and civilized.

Earlier, Nepali Congress MP Prakash Panta objected to the bill and registered a notice of protest during the meeting. He said that the bill aims to curtail right to freedom and privacy of the people.

"This is espionage on democracy. The government will be able to spy on every one. There will be no private life," he said adding that it will be applicable to people from all walks of life including media personnel.

"Anyone can become the victim of online blackmailing," said Panta. He demanded the government to withdraw the bill.
