Special event to mark 200th week of Clean Bagmati

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: A special event is being held on coming March 4, Saturday to mark the 200th week of the Clean Bagmati Mega campaign. 

All government bodies and their personnel would be mobilized in the cleanliness event, as decided by a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr Som Lal Subedi, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications. On the day, cleaning of the sacred river in Kathmandu valley will take place in 14 different locations with mobilization of civil servants, security personal, schools, social and professional organisations, civil society and political parties. 

Speaking at a programme organized to discuss ways to make the event fruitful, Ministry Secretary Mahendra Man Gurung said all staffers under the Communications Ministry will have to be present at 'Balkhu-Teku confluence' at 7:00 am on the 4th of March. The government has formed main function committee and various sub-committees to work to make the event successful.

The publicity sub-committee chaired by Secretary Gurung is responsible for carrying out works related to publicizing the event including through information, notice, news, posters and pamphlets and press meet. 

On the occasion, Chairman of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Kul Chandra Wagle, expressed commitment that RSS would disseminate news reports and feature stories about the cultural and religious importance of civilization of Bagmati. RSS
