KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Speaker Onsari Gharti on Sunday has instructed lawmakers to attend House meeting regularly.
After the House meeting on Friday failed to endorse some urgent bills due to lack of quorum, the speaker issued the instruction and also warned of scrapping their parliament membership if they missed 10 consecutive meeting without informing.
"Attendance of lawmakers has affected major business in the House. I want to draw the attention of the lawmakers and political parties toward Article 89 (D) of the constitution," Gharti told the House meeting.
Article 89 (D) of the constitution has provision of scrapping membership of a MP if he/she found to be absent 10 consecutive meeting without informing.
Earlier, on Friday dozens of lawmakers had left the parliament meeting to attend a function organized by an INGO.
