KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Thursday said that she has given a three-day ultimatum to major political parties to forge a consensus on ending the political deadlock.
Receiving a memorandum handed over by Reporters’ Club, Speaker Magar expressed her optimism that the parties will forge an accord within the deadline.
“I have been apprised that the leaders are nearing a consensus,” she said, “Thus, I gave them three more days for discussions. If consensus eludes parties within the deadline, the parliamentary process will move ahead.”
The Speaker added that she has urged the top leaders to be present at the next parliament meeting.
“I have directed them not to leave the Valley,” she said, “Let’s hope an accord will be reached soon.”
