A number of movies hit the theatres in 2018. Some impressed the audiences very well while some only created a buzz. Here are some of the movies:

Romeo & Muna

Written and directed by Naresh Kumar KC, ‘Romeo and Muna’ is a drama and romance genre film that captivates viewers’ attention through its impressive storyline punched with light humor. The casts include Vinay Shrestha, Shristi Shrestha, Surakshya Panta, Sushma Karki and so on.

Sunkesari

‘Sunkesari’ is a horror movie released in 2018. Written and directed by Arpan Thapa, this movie depicts supernatural presence at an ancient palace-turned-boutique hotel. The cast members include Reecha Sharma, Rabindra Jha, and Sunny Dhakal.

Lamphoo

‘Lamphoo’ features a special cameo by Kusum Shrestha aka ‘Tarkariwali’. Along with the actor, the movie stars Salon Basnet, Kabir Khadka, Mariska Pokhrel, Chadani Sharma, and Sanjit Bhandari in different roles. Directed by Gopal Chandra Lamichhane, the film reflects uneven circumstances of life and hardships faced by the characters in the film.

Naakaa

‘Naakaa’ is directed by Amit Shrestha. This movie is about a Tibetan girl escaping Dharmashala to meet her family. This movie is one of Bipin Karki’s movies released in 2018. Besides Karki, the movie also features Thinley Lhamo, Ghanashyam Joshi, and other supporting actors.

Nai Nabhannu La 5

Nai Nabhannu La 5 is a 2018 film, directed by Bikash Raj Acharya, and written by Samipyaraj Timalsena. Like its prequels, the movie is also based on a romantic story. The movie stars Priyanka Karki, Swastima Khadka, Keki Adhikari, Niruta Singh, Dilip Rayamajhi in leading roles along with other supporting actors.

Katha Kathmandu

Written and directed by Sangita Shrestha, ‘Katha Kathmandu’ is a movie about love, lust and life. The film depicts deep realities of society through three major stories in the film. The cast includes Prekshya Adhikari, Pramod Agrahari, Ayushman Joshi, and Sandhya KC in leading roles.

Chhakka Panja 3

The film hit theatres this year. The all-in-all comedy film was received well by the audience. Directed by Deepa Shree Niraula, the movie is written by Deepak Raj Giri. The cast include Deepak Raj Giri, Kedar Ghimire, Priyanka Karki, Laxmi Giri, and Kiran KC.

Jai Bhole

‘Jai Bhole’ is a comedy genre film, aimed at raising awareness about social issues.The film, directed by Ashok Sharma stars Saugat Malla, Khagendra Lamichhane, Laxmi Giri, Rajaram Poudyal, Ramchandra Adhikari and other supporting actors.

Changa Chet

Directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, ‘Changa Chet’ is a comedy- genre movie starring Priyanka Karki, Ayushman Joshi, Nirmal Sharma, Sarita Giri, Arpan Thapa, with other actors in supporting roles. The film revolves around the friendship between three friends.

 America Boys

‘America Boys’ is a Nepali comedy film directed by Prabesh Poudel. Written by Bibek Pandey, the story is based on friends lying to their family about winning the EDV lottery. Alongside with Ashish Prasai, Abhay Baral, Arpan Thapa , Sandip Chhetri and more are seen in the film.

 Dream Girl

Directed by Rishi Raj Acharya, ‘Dream Girl’ is a movie with a mixed genre of romance and comedy. The movie released in November 2018 and casts Aakash Shrestha, Ashma Giri, Wilson Bikram Rai, Saroj Khanal in leading roles.

Kanchhi

It is a drama genre movie. The movie is about childhood friendship turning into true love. Produced by Shweta Khadka and Sailesh Khadka, ‘Kanchhi’ is directed by Akash Adhikary. Written by Yam Thapa, the film stars Shweta Khadka, Dayahang Rai, Nir Shah.

Shatru Gate

After a long break from movies, the veteran ‘Maha Jodi’ featrured together in this movie. Written and directed by Pradeep Bhattarai, ‘Shatru Gate’ depicts tussles between two families. Along with Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, Deepak Raj Giri, Priyanka Karki, Basundhara Bhusal, Paul Shah are seen in the movie.

Kri

‘Kri’ is about finding the missing love. Directed by Surendra Poudel, it is an action movie. The film is produced by Bhuwan KC and Subash Giri. Anmol KC, Anoop Bikram Shahi, Aditi Budhathoki and several other actors cast in the movie.

Ramkahani

‘Ramkahani’ shares the story about two people falling in love. Directed by Sudarshan Thapa, the movie features Aakash Shrestha, Pooja Sharma, Kedar Ghimire, Wilson Bikram Rai and several other actors in the cast.

Pandit Bajeko Lauri

‘Pandit Bajeko Lauri’ is directed by Dipak Oli.  The Mahesh Dawadi  written script shares the story of a priest. The movie casts Prabin Khatiwada, Pramod Agrahari, Bijay Baral, Sandhya KC and several other actors.

Intu Mintu London Ma

Directed and written by Renasha Bantawa Rai, it is a romantic love saga. The story is about two people meeting in London and thereafter falling in love. The movie stars Dhiraj Magar, Samragyee RL Shah, Saruk Tamrakar, Vijay Lama, Arjun Shrestha, Dil Bhushan Pathak, Ruby Rana, and Bibek Limbu in different roles.

Hari

It is a story about a superstitious man whose life changes on the day he meets a girl. Written and directed by Pratik Gurung and Safal KC, ‘Hari’ is a drama genre movie with slight comic punches. The Bipin Karki starrer features Kamal Mani Nepal, and Sunita Shrestha in leading roles.

Kohalpur Express
