Snowfall cripples normal life in Humla (with photos)

HUMLA, Jan 4: Snowfall in different parts of Humla has crippled normal life in the district. Various villages in the northern belt in the district have witnessed snowfall since Sunday midnight, affecting people’s movement and their daily activities.

Flights to and from Simikot have been disrupted due to the snowfall. However, two aircraft of Tara Air which were stranded at the Simikot Airport due to heavy snowfall were allowed to fly back to Nepalgunj this afternoon.

Many villages in Namkha Rural Municipality which is located in the northern belt of Humla, have been affected by the snowfall.

The temperature of Simikot, the district headquarters, has dropped to minus 0.7 degree Celsius. Snow level has risen up to 1 feet in Simikot.

The neighboring Jumla district has also witnessed heavy snowfall since Sunday midnight.
