Snakebites kill two in Udayapur

UDAYAPUR, Augt 11: Two people of Tapeshwari-1 in Udaypur district have died from snakebites on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Basnet, 15, and Radhika Pal, 40, according to locals. Both of them were bitten at their home and they died on the way to Biratnagar for treatment, informed Bhagalpur Police Pos, Tapeshwari.

Police said snakebites have claimed lives of three people this year in Tapeshwari alone. Locals said lack of treatment center for snakebites in nearby locations have been claiming lives time and again. Locals from the western VDCs of the district have to travel to as far as Phatepur, Rajbiraj and Biratnagar for t reatment.
