The toilet covers an area of 500 sq ft with a length of 28 ft and a width of 12 ft. Both men and women can use the toilet. There are four male urinals along with cubicles for women and gender-neutral space.
Speaking at the inauguration program, Mayor Shakya said that the priority of the Kathmandu metropolis is to build environment-friendly infrastructure and distribute technological urban services for sustainable development. Mayor Shakya said that the toilet is odorless and user-friendly for women, children, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens.
The newly constructed toilets are equipped with technology that harvests rainwater for use. It also has a waste management system based on automated technology. The toilet is equipped with a disposable machine for used menstruation pads and vending machine for fresh pads. The toilet is also equipped with automatic technology that dispenses water and liquid soap and also has a hand dryer.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Aerosan collaborated for its operation.
