KATHMANDU, June 17: The COVID-19 Management Directorate Committee has decided to enforce 'smart lockdown' starting June 22. 

The second meeting of the committee has decided to control the risk of infection and impose smart lockdown simultaneously including resumption of production and supply of essential commodities.

The committee has concluded that some areas should be opened by maintaining health standards and the prohibitory orders should be loosened up gradually after evaluating the situation.

A meeting of the committee chaired by the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Committee KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday decided to resume flights to Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan and Malaysia where the number of Nepali migrant workers is high.

Air services will be resumed with no more than two thousand passengers a week from these countries.

The meeting also decided to provide financial assistance to the workers who have gone for foreign employment but cannot stay in the hotel quarantine due to various reasons. The government will manage hotel quarantine amounts for up to 10 days as they are required to quarantine for a total of 15 days.
