POKHARA, Jan 3: A week-long 'Summer Ski' festival is being held in the Mardi Mountain region with the objective of promoting adventure tourism from February 10. The event is being organized by the Sustainable Himalayan Fund.
According to Prabhat Adhikari, a member of the organization, the festival has been prepared with the objective of developing ski tourism in Nepal. The festival is called 'Great Himalayan Ski Tour'.
This is the eighth edition of the organization's ski festival in Mardi. Earlier, the festival was held in Manaslu, Kalinchok and other places, said Ram Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of the organization.
According to the organizer, an insurance package worth Rs 220,000 has been arranged for all participants of the festival. The festival is estimated to cost around Rs 1.6 million.
“This ski festival will add a new dimension to the promotion of adventure tourism,” said Sudeep Gautam, Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association, Gandaki Province.
