KATHMANDU, March 7: Paletee's Holiday, in association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), has honored six women tourism entrepreneurs in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Organizing an event entitled 'The Tourism Entrepreneurs International Women Awards 2019: Voices and Visions', the company handed over the awards to three women entrepreneurs from Nepal and three from India involved in the tourism industry.

The recipients of the award were: Ambica Shrestha (President of Dwarika hotel) for being the women pioneer in tourism industry, tour guide Sunaina Raut for being the only female tour guide from Tharu community, and the team of the First Women Journalists Everest Expedition-2018 from Nepal. Rojita Buddhacharya, a team leader from the first women Journalists team had come to receive the award.

Likewise, from India, Megha Sharma, Sucheeta Nagpal and Sukanya Am were honored for being involved in the tourism industry since long.

Anuradha Koirala, director of Maiti Nepal, handed over the awards. The organizers claimed their initiative will support the government's project of Visit Nepal Year (VNY) 2020.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Koirala asked all women to have faith on themselves, adding that change in the society would only come from change within the individual.

"Women are not weak by themselves, they are forced to become weak," she said, "Every individual has their own capacities to build up themselves as successful persons. That's what a woman needs to do."

She further said that to stand equal as males, women need to support each other by embracing a culture of appreciation. "We are weak because we do not appreciate ourselves. So let's first learn to appreciate each other," she added.
