PHIDIM, June 26: Six settlements at Phalaincha, Yangwarak rural municipality-2 in Panchthar district are facing landslide risk following incessant rain. The settlements situated in high hilly region – Sepi, Chingma, Weteni, Dhimale, Muklabu and Gangawa – are in risk of landslide.
Chair of the rural municipality, ward number 2, Deu Kumar Yonghang said that the landslide occurred in the area since Tuesday night following heavy downpour. A local, Pahal Man Rai's house at Muklabu was washed away and dozens of houses are damaged by the landslide.
Two settlements in Humla at high risk of flood, landslide
According to the ward chair Yonghang, the locals of Muklabu are in search for safe places since Tuesday night. He said that fourteen households from Chingma have reached Dundechaur in search of secure place. Cowsheds and cattle pens in the area were wiped away by landslide.
However, the exact details of the damage are not available. The landslide has also caused damage to the Major Chingma Rabikhola Micro Hydropower Project operated in these settlements, disrupting the power supply in the area.
