BIRATNAGAR, Aug 25: Six people have been arrested on the charge of gang-raping a 16-year-old girl at separate locations on the same night in Jhapa.
Among those arrested are 19-year-old Anish Limbu from Arjundhara Municipality-5, 34-year-old Saroj Rai and 25-year-old Keshav Magar from Arjundhara-8. Also arrested are 20-year-old Sudip Shrestha, Lanka Rajbansi and Sujan Dangi from Arjundhara-7.

The district police office has reported that one person involved in the incident is still at large. According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday night. After the girl filed a complaint on Saturday, the police arrested six individuals involved in the case.
According to Superintendent of Police Milan KC from Jhapa, three people are involved in one incident that occurred on Friday night, while four are involved in another incident. The police have arrested six individuals from those involved in both incidents.
According to the police, it appears that the sexual assault occurred at a fruit stall in the Naya Bazaar area of Arjundhara-8 and then at a hotel. The girl was lured under the pretense of going out for a walk and was taken to the fruit stall around 8:30 PM and then to the hotel around 11 PM.
The police claim that Anish, Saroj, and Keshav initially assaulted the girl at the fruit stall. She was then taken to Lanka Hotel and Resort in Arjundhara-7, where she was sexually assaulted by four staff members, including the hotel owner. The hotel owner is Rajbanshi, and the staff involved are Sudip, Sujan, and Sanjeev. Another staff member at the hotel is currently at large.
The police have stated that the victim's condition is stable. They are preparing to extend the detention period today in order to file a charge of rape against the arrested individuals.
