KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Six more central working committee members of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to sources at the NC headquarters, CWC members Surendra Raj Pandey, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Kiran Yadav, Krishna Kishor Ghimire, Sujata Pariyar and Mohammad Siddiqi tested positive for COVID-19 during polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests conducted on Thursday, ahead of the party’s central committee meeting scheduled for today. Of the total 81 NC leaders who underwent PCR tests, six tested positive for the virus.

The central working committee meeting has been postponed for coming Sunday owing to the party’s factional disputes.

A few days ago, two NC central working committee members Min Biswakarma and Farmullah Mansoor tested positive for the virus. Both are currently undergoing treatment.

The party’s scheduled central committee meeting was deferred until further notice in October after six central working committee members including Arjun Narsingha KC tested positive for the coronavirus.
