Six arrested with 1.7 kg gold

LAHAN, Jan 13: An armed police force team has arrested six persons along with 1.757 kgs of gold from Ghurmi bridge in ward no. 1 of Golbazaar municipality. 

They were arrested during a regular checking of a Jeep with Indian registration number BR32PA4644 on its way to Kathmandu. Those arrested are Mohammad Riyaj,32, Mohammad Hakim,42, Mohammad Amirul,28, Mohammad Rehman,24, and Kaiyun Rahim,45, of Lahan municipality-19 in the district and Mohammad Afroj,18, of ward no. 3 of Khadka municipality in Saptari district, according to DSP Ajaya Chattkulli. 

Driver Riyaj was arrested with four sets of bangles and three raw pieces of the yellow metal while Amirul and Kaiyum possessed one bangle each. Police also found Rs. 34,500 in cash and six sets of mobile telephones from them. 

Further investigation is underway to find the origin of the yellow metal and necessary action against those arrested for holding it illegally.
