Six arrested for stealing electricity

KOHALPUR, March 22: Nepalgunj-based Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) office arrested six people from Kohalpur of Banke district on charge of stealing electricity from poles during its electricity leakage control campaign.

KOHALPUR, March 22: Nepalgunj-based Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) office arrested six people from Kohalpur of Banke district on charge of stealing electricity from poles during its electricity leakage control campaign. 



According to Umesh Kumar Jha, chief of the officer, the arrested will be slapped a total fine of Rs 1,35,000 to recover losses incurred by the theft. A team comprising Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force along with the members of the NEA office was deployed to check the leakage of electricity.



According to the police, the six were arrested for their involvement in directly linking their electricity meters at their home to the electricity poles.



The team also confiscated the wires, meters and motors used by the perpetrators for stealing electricity.
