KATHMANDU, March 29: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Shiv Chandra Prasad Kushwaha has joined Janmaat Party.

Kushwaha joined the Janmat Party by organizing a press conference at the Reporters Club. He said that he chose the Janmaat Party because he was discriminated against within the party.

He was the candidate of the Maoist Center in Bara-2 in the last House of Representatives election. But he was defeated by the then JSP candidate Ramsahay Prasad Yadav by a margin of 354 votes. A by-election is held on April 23 after Yadav was recently elected as the Vice President.

Kushwaha is now preparing to contest the by-election in Bara-2. He said that he wanted to contest the election as an independent, but because people asked him to contest the election from the party, he decided to join the Janmat Party.
