KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepal number one golfer Shivaram Shrestha carded two-under 66 on Thursday to climb on top of the leaderboard after third round of the Surya Nepal Golf Challenge 2017 golf tournament at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu.
The RNGC pro Shivaram posted a total of four-under 200 and climbed two spots up to take a two-shot lead over his elder brother Jayaram Shrestha, the overnight leader. Jayaram carded five-over 73 for a total of two-under 202.

Bhuwan Nagarkoti of Gokarna Golf Club stands third at even-par 204 after he carded two-over 70. Rame Magar carded even-par 68 with total score of two-over 206 to occupy fourth position.
Sanjay Lama slipped to fifth from second position after a disastrous play of nine-over 77 for total of three-over 207. Chuda Bahadur Bhandari moved to sixth after playing round of one-under 67 for a total of five-over 209. Rabi Khadka (70) is seventh at 210, followed by Dhana Bahadur Thapa (75) at 212.
Meanwhile, Mithun Rai leads the amateur section with total score of 215. He carded six-over 74 to maintain his lead atop the amateur section. Santosh Rokka (72) is second with total of 216 and Shiva Kumar Majhi (76) is third with total of 218.
Altogether 22 pros and six amateur golfers will play in the final round of the tournament on Friday. The event carries a total purse of Rs 400,000 and the winner will bag Rs 75,000 while the runner-up will take home Rs 46,000 and third place finisher will get Rs 31,500. Others in the top 21 positions will also have their share in cash prize.
