LONDON, Aug 25: Chairperson of the Sherpa Association, UK Chapter, Sana Sherpa died of coronavirus disease  (COVID-19) in London.

A permanent resident of Bhojpur district, Sherpa, 51, breathed his last at 1.00 pm Monday while undergoing treatment at Saint Thomas Hospital in London, according Palpa Society, UK Chairperson Bachaspati Regmi.

Sherpa was first admitted at William Harvey Hospital in Kent after he was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 13. He was later shifted to Saint Thomas Hospital after his health condition did not see any improvement even after two weeks of treatment.

Although he was tested negative for the virus a week ago, his health condition continued to further deteriorate due to kidney related complications. Sherpa, the ex-Gurkha veteran, is survived by a wife and three sons. His family has been staying in the United Kingdom.
