KATHMANDU, March 20: Seven airline companies that were shut down due to various reasons are yet to clear royalty dues worth over Rs 110 million to the government.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Necon Air, Cosmic Air, Skyline Airways, Air Kasthamandap, Shivani Air, Gorkha Air and Mountain Air that were closed down years ago have not cleared their dues till date. The regulator has written to the proprietors concerned asking them to settle all their financial liabilities within a week.

According to CAAN, Necon Air is yet to pay Rs 47.20 million to the government. Dipmani Rajbhandari was the chairman of the airline company, which is yet to clear salary dues of its staffers.

Similarly, Rabindra Prasad Pradhan-led Cosmic Air owes Rs 34.70 million to the government. Aang Tshering Sherpa of Skyline Airways is yet to clear its arrears worth Rs 7.80 million.

Likewise, Prajwal Shrestha-run Air Kasthamandap has not paid dues worth Rs 7.30 million while Manindra Lal Ranjitkar of Shivani Air owes Rs 5.50 million to the government. Gorkha Air and Mountain Air are yet to pay Rs 2 million and Rs 6.10 million, respectively, to the government.  

According to the Airport Service Fee Rules 2010, CAAN holds the right to blacklist the individuals and organizations that do not pay the required fees to restrict such individuals and organizations from taking part in any activities or business related to the aviation services, airport and any work related to the authority and other businesses.
