Om Prakash Mishra recommended as new Chief Justice 

The Parliametnary Hearing Committee has unanimously endorsed Justice Om Prakash Mishra as the country's new chief justice. Earlier today, Justice Om Prakash Mishra has expressed his commitment to make necessary reforms in justice mechanisms while adhering to zero tolerance against corruption in his address to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee at Singha Durbar.

High level probe committee member Birendra KC resigns over report's credibility

Member of the High Level Investigation Committee formed to look into the Nirmala rape-murder case Birendra KC, who is also the under-secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Province 7, has resigned from the committee. KC has expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation report of the five member committee led by Hari Prasad Mainali, under-secretary at the Home Ministry.

90 percent drinking water projects completed

Almost 90 percent of the drinking water projects, devastated by the 2015 earthquake in Sindhupalchowk district, have been so far complete. Reconstruction is underway in 10 percent of total 691 projects which were affected by the earthquake occurred on 25 April 2015 and its aftershocks.

Nepal Tarun Dal shuts down Liwang

Cadres of Nepal Tarun Dal have shut down Liwang, the district headquarter of Rolpa following the murder of Rohit Pun. President of Rolpa Municipality chapter of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of Nepali Congress, Rohit Pun, 29, was shot dead on Sunday. 

Chinese national sent 10 kg gold seized in Gorkha: Police

Police have identified about the 10 kilograms of gold seized at Sirdibas, Gorkha on Saturday have been sent by a Chinese national. Sirdibas Police Post had arrested Lama and Tenbe in possession of gold during a regular security check. Organizing a press meet on Monday, District Police Office, Gorkha made them public and informed the people that Lama and Tenbe were carrying 5 kg of gold each along with ornaments weighing eight tolas when they were arrested.

Djokovic headed for bright finish with U.S. Open win

For Novak Djokovic, a season that got off to a gloomy start is heading for a brilliant finish after he dismissed Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3 7-6(4) 6-3 to win the U.S. Open on Sunday and earn back-to-back Grand Slam titles. Working his way back from elbow surgery he underwent following the Australian Open, Djokovic did not expect to feature in the Grand Slam picture this season.
