Senior journalist Rajendra Dev Acharya passes away

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Senior journalist Rajendra Dev Acharya passed away on Sunday morning.

Acharya died in course of treatment at Norvic Hospital in the capital. He was suffering from a liver disease for long. He was admitted to Bir Hospital last week and discharged from the hospital. Yesterday, he was admitted to Norvic where he breathed his last.

Journalist Maha Prasad Lamichhane at Nepal Television told Republica Online that Acharya was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat in the capital today morning .

Acharya served as news chief at the state-owned Nepal Television for two decades. After retiring from the television as the deputy general manager, he went on to become the news chief at News 24 Television.

Acharya joined journalism during Pachayat era. `Chintan Manan´ was one of his popular shows on NTV. Apart from working in media, he was a lecturer at Nepal Manabiki Campus in Kathmandu. He had been teaching journalism.

He is survived by wife and a daughter.
