LALITPUR, Dec 6: The association of St. Mary’s Alumni Nepal (ASMAN) organized a self-defense training with trainers from Paritran Risk Management Solutions (PRISMS) at St. Mary’s High School, Jawalakhel from November 28 to December 3.
A total of 998 students from grades 8-12 received three-day self-defense training from PRISMS, a company that specializes in providing safety consultancy and training. The objective of the training was to equip the girls of ages 14-18 to defend against any violence targeted towards them.
Stuti Singh, a grade 12 student, when asked about the necessity of these classes, mentioned that, “If survival skills are provided to each and every girl, they would be much more confident in tackling withany such unfortunate incident.”
Jessy CJ, principal of St. Mary’s said that “the school stands for empowerment of women. Seeing the present problems faced by the young women in the society, we feel the need to build self confidence in them.”
