SURUNGA (Jhapa), Dec 6: The lawmakers and political party representatives in Jhapa have called for resolving the problems and dealing with the current situation in wake of the registration of the constitution amendment bill through Parliament.

During an interaction on 'Constitution Amendment: Emerging Situation and Its Resolution' held on Monday at Dialogue Group Secretariat at Birtamode, the leaders have said there is no alternative to seeking a resolution to the crisis from Parliament.

Lawmaker and UML central member, Rabin Koirala, spoke of the importance for the government to launch an effort to unify the parties before moving forward.

He added that they were heading to the streets only to alert the government as it was bringing the proposal for amendment unconstitutionally. Another lawmaker, Prem Bahadur Giri, said solution can be had from the Parliament and called on one and all to think from the perspective of national sentiment.

At the programme, Nepali Congress leader, Deuman Thebe, CPN (Maoist Centre) central member, Roshan Kandangwa, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)-Jhapa Secretary Keshav Prasad Ojha have underscored the need on part of the parties to be serious towards resolving the problem and called for resolution through Parliament rather than the streets.

Local Peace Committee Coordinator and Sadbhawna Party District Chair, Surya Narayan Ganesh, TMLP Jhapa District Chairman, Tri Narayan Rajbanshi, and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal's Sageeta Rauniyar insisted on creating an environment conducive to amendment of the constitution by shunning prejudice and partisan interest, and to give rights to the citizens that have been discriminated as well as addressing the demands of those seeking their identity.
