The second edition of Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) 2019 is set kick off from February 21 at Rastrya Sabha Griha and Nepal Toursim Board (NTB).
Amidst the press meet at NTB on Thursday, Bijay Ratna Tuladhar, senior journalist, filmmaker and also one of the committee members said that the festival will stick with the theme ‘celebration of narratives’. The further stated that the festival will be organized by Nepal Film and Cultural Academy with co-organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Likewise, Film Development Board of Government of Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board will promote the event.
Veteran lyricist, director and writer Yadav Kharel released short clips about the festival. Besides screening, the festival will also conduct panel discussions and interactions on various topics regarding film.

The festival is set to screen 59 narratives and stories from 31 countries. Six features and 10 short movies will represent Nepal in the festival.
The festival announced five jury members from the global film fraternity. The jury comprises of Neer Shah from Nepal, Anne Delseth from Switzerland, Nabin Subba from Nepal, Liang Qiao from China and Prememdra Mazumder from India.
The winner of features movie will receive trophy and cash price USD 1,000, including ‘Gatuam Budhha Award’. Similarly, short film’s winner will bag USD 5,000 and trophy along with ‘Mt Everest Award’. The features and short movies category in Nepal Panorama will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and trophies respectively.
The festival will run for five days, till 25 February.
