Second Day of Jazzmandu Heartwarming

Second Day of Jazzmandu Heartwarming

Palouse Jazz Project from the USA performed in the second day of ‘Surya Nepal Jazzmandu 2017’at Manny’s Eatery and Tapas Bar, Jawalkhel on Friday.

The band enthralled crowd with their first ever melody and improvised jam. The band performed ‘Hello’ originally by Lionel Ritchie to kick start the event, where Vern Sielert on trumpet shined through. The performance was followed by ‘Another Hairdo’, ‘Harlem Knocked’, ‘A Beautiful Friendship’ and ‘I’m Old Fashioned’ among other numerous heartwarming jazz numbers.

A variation of different musical instruments like trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano, bass guitar and drums played by the six-member band certainly transported the audience back to the 1920s. As it is said that music played by the band communicates with the audiences’ emotions, the band was able to spellbind the attendees with their music.

Pablo, one of the audiences who had come to Nepal from Mexico to learn Buddhism and trekking, said, “I love Jazz music and I enjoyed the event a lot. This is my first experience in Nepal listening to jazz and it was absolutely beautiful.”

Sharing his experience performing for the first time in Nepal, drummer of the band Daniel Bukvich, said, “We’re faculty members from the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Navin Chettri, the director of Jazzmandu is our student. We came to perform in Nepal with Navin’s help. I feel Nepali people are friendly and the environment here is clean. I loved to perform here.”

This is the 15th edition of the annual Jazzmandu event. The grand finale of the event is scheduled on October 18 at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg where local and international artists will jam together.
