Season on display

It was a crowded day on Sunday at Patan Museum, Patan as 57 women artists' paintings were on display. And the occasion was to celebrate 109th International Women's Day.

Department of Painting of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) organized a three-day long women's group painting exhibition titled 'Season'. In the exhibition, the participants choose their own theme which showcased variety for the viewers.

Though the gallery is congested and the wall is crowded with different sized paintings, it is definitely a platform to know women artists of Nepal and the forms and themes they work on. They have created paintings using motifs such as women, men, trees, nature, etc. In the exhibition, the viewers are able to see traditional paintings such as Mithila art along with contemporary conceptual visual paintings. Also, the exhibition is the amalgamation of women of different age group showcasing different generation of women in the field of fine arts.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the politician and former Minister of Nepal Astalaxmi Shakya. The Head of Painting department of NAFA, Sushma Rajbhandari coordinated the exhibition. Meanwhile, veteran artists Govinda Lal Singh Dongol and Dr Seema Shah were facilitated in the opening ceremony for their continuous dedication towards Nepali art scenario.

The exhibition continues till Tuesday.
