Search and sweep operation in each constituency

CHITWAN, Dec 1: The District Police Office has begun search and sweep operation in each constituency as per the Election Security Plan (ESP) in the district.

The District Police Office has begun such operation in the view of the security challenges that might increase toward the polling day, informed DSP Prabhu Prasad Dhakal.

DSP Dhakal has informed that two teams of Nepal Police have been deployed in each constituency to ensure security and added that the police will start search operations as soon as they detect something suspicious.  

Police have identified some polling stations sensitive from the security point of view and thus have deployed a sufficient number of police personnel to tackle criminal and anti-election activities, said DSP Dhakal.

Mainly, the security team will keep close tabs on anti-election activities such as explosions carried out by cadres linked with Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party.

Some criminal activities have been taking take in various districts but in Chitwan. The District Police Office has made different strategic plans to monitor and prevent such activities.  

SP Dipak Thapa appealed to the people to inform the police as soon as they notice something suspicious. The security strategy contains five plans like controlling over goons, alcohol, drugs, criminal activities and anti-election activities. The district security committee has identified 52 polling stations as sensitive zone among 162 in the district.

The security committee has made different strategies for three phases - pre-election, post election and on polling day.

In the district, a total of 5005 security personnel including 1,710 temporary police have been deployed.
