Sculptor Shakya passes away

LALITPUR, April 9: Senior sculptor Bhim Shakya passed away at his residence on Saturday. He was 86. 

Shakya was involved in the art of statute making for more than six decades. Shakya, who left for Tibet when he was 15 years old, spent eight years there and also became a monk. 

Shakya will be known for his significant contribution in preserving the Nepali art history by spending a very long time in Nepali traditional sculpture, said General Secretary of Nepal Fine Art Society Devendra Thumkeli. RSS
