Scrub typhus infection taking toll in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Sept 17: As many as 205 people in Chitwan district have been directly affected from scrub typhus infection which was first spotted some five months ago.

Two among the infected so far have lost their lives. The deceased are from Tanahun and Chitwan.

According to the Chitwan District Public Health Office, the number of patients suffering from the disease is on increasing trend in Chitwan district. Only one patient was found infected in the month of Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May) while the score of infected had increased to 31 in Asar, 77 in Saun and 95 in Bhadau (mid-August to mid-September). 

Vector Controller at the Office, Ram KC shared that the disease was detected among 188 in Chitwan Medical College, nine in Narayani Community Hospital and eight in Bharatpur Hospital. RSS
