JAJARKOT, August 15: Most of the schools in Upper Dolpa have been operating continuously since Baisakh even though educational institutions remain closed across the country.
Most of the schools in Dolpobuddha, Charkatangsong and Shey-Phoksundo villages of Upper Dolpa have started teaching and learning activities from the start of the new academic year. The new academic session starts in the month of Falgun in Upper Dolpa.
Prioritize Rebuilding Flood-Damaged Schools
According to a local, Pema Gurung, all the schools in Dolpobuddha have started operating as usual since the Nepali month of Baisakh. According to him, schools in Upper Dolpa were not closed even during last year's first wave of coronavirus pandemic. Last year, the exams were held on time.
There are six schools in Dolpobuddha. Some schools in Charkatangsong and Shey-Phoksundo are also operating. Spokesperson for Dolpobuddha Rural Municipality, Kyalpo Thapa Bhote, said that the status of COVID infection was normal and that it did not have much effect on the region. There are two academic sessions in Dolpa. Upper Dolpa has been established as an area with less contact with people from outside. People say that there is no problem of COVID-19 infection as the border point with neighboring China remains closed too.
