Mayor Shah wrote on Facebook on Sunday that there are many complaints that the school itself is selling books and forcing parents to buy uniforms from specific places."It is reminded that such action is punishable according to institutional school standards and operational guidelines 2069,” he wrote.

Mayor Shah also requested all the schools to work according to the guidelines. “All the schools are requested to act according to the Institutional School Standards and Operating Guidelines 2069,” he wrote.

The metropolis had issued a press release on March 31 warning that schools selling books and uniforms would be punished. Ram Prasad Subedi, the education officer of the education department of the metropolis, issued a circular on March 31, asking schools not to sell books and not to force parents to buy uniforms at specific places.
