ITAHARI, Sept 20: A man has been shot dead at Harinagar rural municipality-2, Bhutaha in Sunsari district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Maulana Khusid Alam, founder member of National Boarding School.
Two armed-men arriving from a neighboring Indian town on a motorbike with Indian number plate opened fire on Alam. Alam died on the spot.Alam received a bullet in his chest and head. They also opened fire on a Nepal police squad while they were chasing them toward India.
Police constable Siva Lal Paudel sustained a bullet injury in the firing, Chief District Officer Prem Prakash Upreti told Republica Online.
Paudel is undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
