DHANUSA, June 26: Madan Mahara, the principal of Ram Janaki School, Aurahi Rural Municipality-1, has been mistreated. Black soot was smeared on his face during a parents-teachers meeting.

Ram Nath Yadav, a local, had abused the principal during a debate at the meeting convened by the school's principal on Saturday.

The provincial government has provided Rs 3 million for the maintenance and educational strengthening of the school and Rs 3.6 million for the construction of a four-room building from the federal government. We had called a parents' meeting to find out where to spend the money, said Principal Mahara.

Principal Mahara said, "Everyone is aware of the condition of the school before and how much the school has improved since I joined the teacher. Some parents are here trying to do politics in school. I have been a victim of this before. Six-seven months before they even tried to remove me, but the students protested against their move. So, due to the pressure from the students, they could not remove me.” He added “I had requested the then rural municipality chairman Brahmadev Yadav to allocate money for the school from the rural municipality for the unfinished work of the school. He told me he would provide Rs 3.6 million if I made a person of his choice the chairman of the school management committee. How can I make someone chairman when that is done by the locals and parents?”

Mahara claimed that the former chairman of the rural municipality, Yadav, had incited some people against him with the intention of discrediting him as he did not work according to Yadav’s plan.

“The program to provide lunch to the students has been halted. There is no management committee in the school, so the school’s principal is responsible for everything. The principal should answer that only a week ago, Rs 500,000 was withdrawn from the school's account. Where was that money used? Principal Mahara has caused financial loss to the school. We have already found evidence of that. We will make it public soon,” said Yadav.
