School in Myagdi gets earthquake-resistant building

MYAGDI, Oct 22: The building of Muktimarga Higher Secondary School based in Ghar of Annapurna Municipality-6 has been reconstructed. 

The reconstruction of an eight-room building cost Rs 11.5 million and of the amount, the District Education Office provided Rs 6 million and remaining was managed through the collections from the organizational to individual level, as stated by school management committee chair Gokul Baruwal. The two-story building is earthquake-resistant and the disabled-friendly as well. The school has presently 358 students. 

Local Tika Bahadur Khadka and his son Dev Bahadur assisted Rs 1.6 million to purchase a piece of land for the reconstruction of school building. The Khadka family has announced further contribution of Rs 1.5 million to add extra infrastructure to the new building, according to school management committee former chair Ram Bahadur Khadka. 

The school also received monetary assistance from German-based organization Himalayan Friendship (1.67 million), from the previous Village Development Committee (Rs 500 thousand), Rs 75 thousand from Mona Belgium) and Rs 400 thousand were collected through the Mahayagya (performance of a religious event). Likewise, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) provided Rs 45 thousand and locals donated voluntary labor to build a new infrastructure for the school. 

Likewise, Dhadhilal Khadka currently residing in Japan provided Rs 51 thousand and Narayan Khadka from Belgium contributed to Rs 45 thousand to the management of funds for the school rebuilding purpose. RSS
