SC's letter seeking detailed report on Sandeep Lamichhane’s case yet to reach Patan High Court even after 11 days

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: A letter written by the Supreme Court (SC) demanding the grounds and reasons for releasing the rape-accused cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane on bail  has not reached the High Court Patan though the letter was sent 11 days ago.

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: A letter written by the Supreme Court (SC) demanding the grounds and reasons for releasing the rape-accused cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane on bail  has not reached the High Court Patan though the letter was sent 11 days ago.


Hearing an appeal filed by the Attorney General’s Office against the High Court's order to release Lamichhane on bail of Rs 2 million, the Supreme Court ordered the submission of a 'detailed report' on February 3.

An official of the Patan High Court said, "The Supreme Court's letter seeking the detailed report on the order to release Lamichhane on bail has not reached us even till Sunday evening." Even after receiving the letter, the High Court will take one to two weeks to send the detailed report considering the nature of the case, added the official.
