KATHMANDU, April 6: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba to furnish written clarification within 10 days after receiving the summon letter.
After preliminary hearing of the case, a single bench of Justice Ishwar Khatiwada issued the order after a contempt case was filed at the apex court over Deuba’s statement on the appointment of Nepal Police chief.
Advocate Hari Prasad Mainali had registered the case on Sunday stating the decision taken by the party’s central committee meeting regarding the court verdict on IGP case disrespected the court.
On March 21, the Supreme Court had revoked the government’s decision to appointment Jaya Bahadur Chand as the Inspector General of Police and had issued an order to appoint a competent contender to the top police post, fulfilling due requirements as per the rule.
